Where to Eat in North Carolina

This year we had the opportunity to embark on another road trip, this time to North Carolina.

Once again, we went in the colder months, November, so I took out my fall/winter gear that I don’t really wear in Miami and prepped for the long weekend.

The landscapes and the drive are beautiful at least from what I saw when I was not sleeping; you can start to see the change from summer long months to the changing color of the leaves.

But like in New Orleans the food is what made our trip memorable.

We looked for the local places to eat so we can get the best feel of the place and I think we did pretty well.

Here’s where we ate and what we ate: (just seeing the pictures makes me hungry!)

HenDough Chicken and Donuts – This place is fun and colorful. They had delicious fresh donuts and incredible breakfast options. I had a Donut Breakfast sandwich with crunchy bacon and a yummy glazed donut as buns. The Smothered Chicken Biscuit was also very tasty. I wanted to eat both!

Rocky’s Hot Chicken Shack – This place we picked last minute and it was delicious. There was a line at all times. We went for dinner and I had the day’s special “Yo Mamma’s Big Fat Booty Platter” and it has all the fried chicken you want to eat with a side of corn soufflé and fries.

Sunny Point Café – This breakfast place is very popular. We had an hour wait and people kept coming in to eat here. Food is delicious and the portions are pretty big. I had Biscuits and Gravy and it did not disappoint, so creamy! We also ordered a Peach Pound Cake that they make fresh there every day.

On the way down to Miami we stopped at two places.

One stop was at Savannah, Georgia for dinner since we were craving those delicious po’boys we had in New Orleans. They were pretty enjoyable, we also had a Fried Calamari Cone; we ate at Savannah Seafood Shack

Our last stop before we got back to Miami was at Daytona because we were craving fresh seafood.

We went to Macker Seafood and purchased two huge platters of shrimp, crab legs and oysters. We had a feast in our hotel room, this place is much recommended.
