This past summer we had the chance to visit Malta. Malta is an island located near Sicily, Italy. They are part of the European Union and it’s made up of three islands: Malta, Gozo and Comino.
We spent a week there and we managed to visit almost everything there was to see. I think strategizing where to stay was key to be able to take advantage of exploring the entire island.
The first two days we stayed at an AirBnb in Saint Paul’s Bay. We had just the perfect view of the bay and delicious restaurants near by. My dish the entire trip was seafood pasta, so good!
We found a cruise that takes you to Comino and around Gozo. Comino is such a tiny island that you get to spend a few hours there sun bathing and exploring the Crystal & Blue Lagoon. The water is blue and so clear. A true beauty!
The cruise is called Sea Adventures, depending on where you stay they offer transportation to the port. We chose the Blue Route which takes you to Comino, Blue Lagoon and Crystal Lagoon and some caves for only 20 Euros. This is a whole day thing so plan accordingly.
Public transportation works great in Malta so the following day we took a public ferry to the island of Gozo. I believe the round trip ticket was less than 5 Euros. There, we purchased a ticket for the red CitySightseeing Hop-On Hop-Off bus which took us to all the main areas of the island. We saw everything in a day.
Gozo is very small and not very populated therefore the bus was a great way to explore, I believe the ticket was only 15 Euros per person. We stopped at a little market area with different stores of glass handmade items as well as a pure leather store to buy souvenirs.
In Gozo, we also had the time to swim around in the Blue Hole which was refreshing after walking around the city.
After getting back to Malta, we enjoyed walking around Downtown Bugibba, which has lots of restaurants, entertainment and souvenir shops.
We moved to Sliema, on the other side of the island, near the main city, Valleta. We booked an eco-friendly Hotel 1926 to enjoy the last days of our trip relaxing and exploring the other side of the island.
Valleta was full of delicious restaurants, shops and incredible views of the city. We always felt safe walking around the city which was great for two girls traveling alone.
Awsome
Amazing place, next stop: Malta!
Thank you.
