Traveling has become a hobby of mine, and since I can’t always travel abroad I have started to develop a taste for exploring my own state. There’s so much to see where I live and I haven’t explored not even a quarter of it. So this year I have tried to be more aware of the amazing places I have near me.
Ever been to Japan? No? Neither have I and although it’s on my list of places to visit, I found a closer way (and cheaper!) to get some of that Japanese charm and what better way to do it than by visiting Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens.
This authentic Japanese museum opened in 1977 thanks to George Sukeji Morikami, who donated the land with the intention of preserving the memory of the Yamato Colony. This colony was formed by the first Japanese farmers that moved to what is now northern Boca Raton back in the early 1900s.
Walking around the gardens, you can appreciate a very peaceful vibe while enjoying the Bonsai exhibits and the multiple garden areas. This is a great place to spend a Saturday walking around and enjoying nice weather exploring a bit of the Japanese culture.
