At the beginning of this year, I was committed to getting out of my comfort zone and working on my self-growth.
But not like past years, where I made myself promises and never kept them.
No. This year it was going to be different. I was determined.
This year I was going to commit to myself 100% no matter what it was. If I wanted to do something, I would do it and I would commit to it. And so that’s how I decided to get out of my comfort zone, to confront some fears of the “what would people say” and just jump in trusting myself.
Consequently, I saw something on social media about a competition where the winner gets $50K and gets to be on the cover of a very affluent magazine. So why not? I registered to compete for Miss Jetset Magazine 2021.
I had never joined a competition like this, where I was competing with over 25,000 women from all over the world. I made it far in the rounds. I won in the Top 15, Top 10, Top 5 in my group and later won Group Winner in the top 1%!
That to me was winning on its own.
Among so many incredible women, I was in that top 1%. The interesting thing about this competition was that it was all about people’s votes and donations. There were no judges to pick a winner, your supporters and the people voting for you would make the decision.
Only their votes could help you move up and stay in the competition.
I am so thankful, grateful, and surprised at all the people that continuously voted, donated, and supported me in this journey. I was surprised every day seeing new names and names of people I never thought of supporting me with their votes and donations.
For that, I am forever grateful.
I strongly believe that we are inspiring people quietly every single day.
Thank you! Thank you! THANK YOU!
To everyone that donated, to everyone that was constantly voting, to everyone that put up with my constant reminders to vote, to everyone that put up with my spamming on social media to please vote. Thank you!
I made it all the way to the quarterfinals thanks to you!
My family will forever be my #1 fans and for that, I am forever grateful. Their constant support and trust in me will always amaze me.
As for winning the competition, well there’s always next year!
